Oil in poop? Sounds weird, right? Although the truth is not, there is a disease, it is called steatorrhea, and today, in our DocPetitPoo section, I want to talk to you about this strange and rare anomaly.

In my search for topics, I came across:

steatorrhea, and I said, “when the poo has too much fat,” that’s when I opened my eyes because I never thought this was possible. So I’ll tell you everything, because, as you before writing this blog, I didn’t know what it was about either.

Steatorrhea

As I said before, steatorrhea is when the poop exceeds the fat limit. This can be caused by cancer of the colon, pancreas, pancreatitis, celiac, or Crohn’s, eating.

When I say food, it is because you are ingesting an excessive amount of fat within your food diet, and as a result, it causes steatorrhea, oil in poop.

When we talk about the pancreas

It is because it cannot absorb fat correctly, since there is a mucosa that functions as a kind of barrier that prevents its operation, or because the enzyme called pancreas lipase does not work; this what it does is destroy fat.

How do you know if you have this strange disease?

  • If you have oil in poop, it is because the size of your poo is enormous, it smells horrible, and you can see the fat.
